Jack Stephenson is president of Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield HealthPlus, New York, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anthem, Inc. In this role, Mr. Stephenson is responsible for all aspects of health plan operations for HealthPlus Amerigroup in New York. He previously served for six years as chief operating officer for the New York Medicaid business, responsible for sales and marketing, provider relations, community relations, enrollment and managed long-term care.  The New York Medicaid plan in 2016 had revenues in excess of $2.3 billion and over 850 employees.  The New York Medicaid plan has more than 465,000 members in NYC metro area.

With more than 17 years of experience in the health care industry, Mr. Stephenson has extensive expertise in the managed care arena. Prior to joining Amerigroup in 2008, Mr. Stephenson served in several leadership positions in managed care organizations including Healthfirst, WellCare, UnitedHealth Group and Oxford Health Plans and was a fixed income research associate with Bloomberg, LLP. 

Jack began competing as a wrestler as a youth and was a member of the West Virginia University wrestling team when it won its first Eastern Wrestling League title. He transferred to The College of New Jersey but did not compete. Jack is an active martial artist who holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (and a volunteer instructor at the Renzo Gracie Academy) and trains Muay Thai Kickboxing. He remains active in wrestling and is currently an assistant coach with Ridgewood (NJ) Junior Wrestling. He is married to Francisca Stephenson and has two children; a stepson, Joshua, and a son, Jack, who is a team member of the Ridgewood Junior Wrestling team as well a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu student.
