Beat The Streets - New York City Wrestling

New York City – Elena Pirozhkova, a member of the 2012 and 2016 United States Olympic Teams, will be behind the microphone providing commentary for the 2017 PSAL Girls Wrestling Individual Championships, which are scheduled for 5:00pm on Saturday, May 13th. Pirozhkova will be taking to the mat herself on Wednesday, May 17th as part of the 2017 Beat the Streets Benefit.

Pirozhkova, whose accolades include a 2011 World Championship Title and eight U.S. Open Titles will be joined behind the mic with Coach Jacque Davis. Coach Davis, the New York State Women’s Wrestling Director, is also the Head Girls Coach at Beat The Streets NYC. Coach Davis was named the 2016 USAW Developmental Coach of the Year.

Girl’s wrestling was introduced as a PSAL Championship sport in 2012-13 and has grown from an inaugural season of 220 girls on 16 teams to its current size of over 350 girls on 27 teams. With 200 wrestlers preregistered, the 2017 Championships promises to be the largest PSAL Girls Wrestling Tournament to date and one of the largest High School Girls Wrestling Tournaments in the nation.

The 2017 PSAL Girls Championship will take place at Brooklyn Tech H.S. (29 Fort Greene Place, Brooklyn, NY) with preliminary rounds beginning at 10:30am. The finals are scheduled for a 5:00pm start.
