Beat The Streets - New York City Wrestling

We are three months away from the 5th annual Cliff Keen Gotham City Girl’s Open. A tournament that started as a humble event hosted in a local high school gym has now grown to become THE premier girl’s freestyle event on the East Coast.

This year’s event will be hosted on April 21 & 22 at Pratt Institute. This guarantees two days of downtown Brooklyn being flooded with the best women’s freestyle wrestlers that the city, state, country and world have to offer.

Continuing with tradition, there will be Finalist Singlets, free event backpacks, and a college fairThis year promises an increased presence of college coaches, wrestling booths, and international teams.

“I think there is a lot of excitement around free event backpacks and finalist singlets,” says Jacque Davis the Beat the Streets Girl’s Program Director. Davis continued, however, to emphasize the larger message behind this event. “I truly want this event to be recognized for is providing a stand-alone opportunity for girl’s and women’s wrestling,” said Davis. “All of us at Beat the Streets want to highlight the power and progress of girls and women in this sport and ultimately, offer these girls an opportunity that they might otherwise not have,” concluded Davis.
