MAT MUSINGS

"I thought these kids battled hard this weekend. We brought a reasonably inexperienced team into this kind of qualifying atmosphere and I thought a lot of them rose to the challenge and competed wellThe important thing is that they competed not only by winning, but when they were losing, they kept wrestling as hard as they could. Staying persistent, in either style, can change matches dramatically and the results showed by the group having so many Fargo qualifiers." Penn GottfriedBTSNY Coach and Junior League Director

"This weekend at Freestyle/Greco States, wrestled to compete and learn new positions. I believe I did amazing in learning new moves from matches and other coaches." Marquis Larmond, Grand Street sophomore

OTHER NOTES
Beat the Streets' presence at the event was not limited to the group selected by the BTSNY staff. Over half a dozen groups of coaches and wrestlers from across the city, all of whom are connected and engaged with the organization, were in attendance. Their attendance was a direct testament to the cultural impact BTSNY has had on the wrestling community in the city.
