Beat the Streets' Brendan Buckley previews Final X New York on 'Barbarian Hour' podcast
The executive director also described the program's mission and its impact on New York City youth.
Beat the Streets New York Executive Director Brendan Buckley appeared on the "Barbarian Hour" podcast with host Zeb Miller this week.
Buckley detailed how Beat the Streets and USA Wrestling set the lineup for this year's Beat the Streets Annual Benefit, which is Final X New York on June 8 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. He also described how the program continues to make a lifelong impact on New York City youth and wrestling throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
These unique and electrifying annual events help Beat the Streets New York raise millions of dollars to support local youth wrestling programs which empower young people in New York City.
Final X will have two sessions. The first match of all 15 of the best-of-three championship series in each event will be during the first session. The second (and third match if necessary) for all 15 weight classes will be conducted in the second session. The weight class order will be the same for both sessions.
Based upon Senior World Team Selection criteria, seven athletes who were 2021 Senior World medalists have accepted their automatic berth to Final X New York. The seven medalists will wrestle the last seven championship series, including Olympic champions Helen Maroulis, Jordan Burroughs and David Taylor in the final three bouts.
There are a variety of ticket options available for Final X New York, beginning at $65 so you don't miss the first in-person Benefit since 2019. Purchase your wrestling-only event tickets on Ticketmaster.
