10 former BTS event participants medal for Team USA at 2021 World Championships
Jordan Burroughs and Adeline Gray each make history with gold-medal winning performances.
Ten former Beat the Streets event participants won medals for the United States national team at the 2021 World Championships earlier this month in Oslo, Norway.
Four of the 10 won gold: Kyle Dake (74 kilograms) and Jordan Burroughs (79 kg) in men's freestyle and Helen Maroulis (57 kg) and Adeline Gray (76 kg) in women's freestyle.
Gray, a 2020 Olympic silver medalist, became the first American to win six World titles, while Burroughs became the first American male to win five World titles. Burroughs, a 2012 Olympic champ, also matched John Smith with six World/Olympic-level golds. Dake and Maroulis, a 2016 Olympic champ, each captured their third World title.
Sarah Hildebrandt (50 kg), Daton Fix (61 kg), David Taylor (86 kg) and Kyle Snyder (97 kg) each took home silver. Hildebrandt grabbed her second World silver. Fix claimed his first senior-level World medal. Taylor, a 2020 Olympic champ and 2018 World champ, won his second World medal. Snyder, a 2016 Olympic champ and two-time World champ, claimed his fifth World medal.
J'den Cox (92 kg) and Tamyra Mensah-Stock (76 kg) each won bronze in men's and women's freestyle, respectively. Cox, a two-time World champ, claimed his fourth World medal. Mensah-Stock, a 2020 Olympic champ and 2019 World champ, won her third World medal.
