Jaimie Nawaday joins Beat the Streets' Board of Directors
Beat the Streets Wrestling, Inc. is proud to announce Jaimie Nawaday as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
Nawaday is a co-head of the Government Enforcement and Internal Investigations Group and partner in the Litigation Department at Seward & Kissel, LLP. Nawaday also served more than seven years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York in the Criminal and Civil Divisions.
Nawaday earned a J.D., manga cum laude, from Cornell Law School, and a B.A. in philosophy and religious studies from Wheaton College.
Nawaday's interest in wrestling stems from her two daughters being active in the BTS program and participants in the sport at a Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) school in New York City.
"I've seen the tremendous impact wrestling has had on both of my daughters, and I was hooked from my first girls' wrestling tournament," Nawaday said. "The grit, resilience, and strength those girls show translate to so many other aspects of their lives.
"Wrestling changes the way girls move through the world, and I believe it is one of the most transformative experiences teen girls can have. I wanted to join the BTS Board to help them as they extend wrestling opportunities to all kids, regardless of background, and to help promote the growth of girls and women's wrestling."
BTSNY's active Board of Directors includes 12 individuals dedicated to supporting the organization's operations and programs, which provide opportunities - on and off the wrestling mat - for urban youth across New York City's five boroughs.
Since being founded in 2005, Beat the Streets New York has pioneered a movement that now includes 150 individual wrestling programs, a youth league and the first girls high school league.
BTSNY works to develop the full human and athletic potential of the urban youth and strengthen the NYC wrestling culture. We aim to make a lifelong impact on student-athletes through the lessons learned on the wrestling mat -- discipline, perseverance, self-reliance, humility and a strong work ethic.
